City of Chicago: Roof and Porch Repair Application Date Change

The City of Chicago Planning and Development department is making a few changes to the Roof and Porch Repair Program (formerly known as EHAP.) The Roof and Porch Repair Program, formerly known as EHAP, provides grants to income-qualified homeowners for the repair or replacement of roof and porches. Property owners must live on site to be eligible to participate and total household income cannot exceed 80 percent of Area Median Income.

Be sure to call 311 on September 4th to apply.
Read below to find out more details about the City of Chicago: Roof and Porch Repair program.

What's the same? This program still provides grants for emergency roof and porch repairs on behalf of income-eligible applicants.

What changing? The traditional start date for this application process was the first business day of each New Year; this year, the application process will be open on September 4th. Starting that day at 9:00 am, residents will be able to initiate the application process by calling 311 and start the application process.

Why the changes?  The goal: to facilitate new roof and porch construction earlier in 2015.

Additional information:
All of the other guidelines for the program will remain the same, and applications will still be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are in need of roof and porch repair assistance, make sure you call 311 as early as possible on September 4th.
